Even I could have hit Target Practice Trump

Either someone is happy to use Trump for looney bin target practice or someone royally screwed up. Target Practice Trump? Just a thought...

How was a man with a rifle able to get within 150m of Trump and shoot? More like: How was a man with an AR-15 style semiautomatic rifle able to get within 150m of Trump, shoot, and MISS?

I reframe things because I think if we look at the second question, we may get the beginning of an answer to the first.

I have never shot an AR-15, but it is a semiautomatic rifle and I have shot a few semi and automatic rifles in my time. In order of least relevant to most relevant they are: PSL-54c, Yugoslavian M92, Kalashnikov AKMS and AKM, AK74, MK12 mod1 SPR, STEYR AUG, G36, M16, M4 A4.

These are of course all military guns, and the AR-15, or ‘AR-15 style’ as it is properly termed, is not. But it is very similar to the M16 and the M4. I have shot both guns and I hit bullseye first go on both. They were incredibly smooth, the M4 particularly so. The difference is apparently that there is no select fire on an AR-15 and the M4 Carbine has a shorter barrel. But other than that? No real difference in terms of ‘difficulty’. Very easy guns. Within 150m? I child could do it – a real one not a 20-year-old. So, what was wrong with this shooter?

According to his old classmates, he was a ‘comically bad shot’. This is how bad he was:

“The shooting range at the school is 50 feet long by 21 feet wide, with seven ranges. Crooks once fired from the seventh lane — the closest lane to the right wall — and hit the left wall, completely missing every target on the back wall. He missed his target by close to 20 feet […] He tried out…and was such a comically bad shot he was unable to make the team and left after the first day”

They also note that he was a bit nuts, or ‘wore hunting outfits to class’, was a loner, and mad some ‘off coloured jokes on the range’.

So, was this a direct ‘inside job’? No, and ‘they’ (whoever ‘they’ are) could kill Trump if they wanted to.

What is utterly terrifying is that if almost anyone else was on that roof, that close, with that gun, they would have killed Trump. I could have.
